Kite Fishing was pioneered right here in Auckland by Paul Barnes from Paul's Fishing Kites about 15 years ago and we work closely with his team to use only the best equipment available on our Kite Fishing Tours. You will go to as beautiful beach with us, learn about New Zealand Flora and Fauna, plus take home both fish and great memories! It is a perfect fishing tour for couples and small mixed groups, since you can combine fishing with swimming, relaxing, socialising, all with great lunch and drinks included!
| Your kite fishing adventure begins when we collect you from your Auckland city accommodation. If you are staying outside of the area we will be able to arrange a meeting place with you, prior to your trip.
Learn about types of bait and what is good for catching certain species of fish that are suitable for kite fishing.
Travel in comfort in our TIME Unlimited luxury 4WD as we transport you through some spectacular scenery to the designated fishing spot. Along the way we will stop at scenic vantage points so that you can take some photos. You will be fishing at one of our favourite fishing spots where we are proud of our excellent kite fishing success and we intend to keep it that way!
When we get to the beach we walk for up to 30 minutes to get to the fishing spot. We then unpack and prepare the gear for the exciting process of getting the gear up to 2km out to sea!
The kite silently and gracefully pulls the hooks further out than you could ever go by casting with a fishing rod. After some time, depending on the location and the weather conditions, we retrieve the line and the kite. Now the most exciting part – seeing the fish splashing around as the kite is pulled back in! Fish such as Snapper, Kingfish, Gurnard, Kahawai, Trevally, John Dory and even Shark can be caught in this way. While we do support sustainable fishing practices, any fish that are within the legal limit can be kept by our guests.
An extensive lunch, snacks and hot/cold drinks are provided and you will also get the opportunity to have a swim.
At the end of the day we return you and your prized catch to your pick-up location. And if you don't know how to fillet or prepare your fish, we can do it for you!

You need to be able to walk for at least 30 minutes along an easy path to and along a beach in order to reach the fishing spot. We welcome children on these tours but do ask for them to be supervised by an adult at all times.
Our Kite Fishing Tours are available for bookings all year round, excluding Christmas Day. We are particularly busy in the summer months so bookings in advance are advised. We leave Auckland at 10am and return at 6pm. You will spend between four and six hours fishing.
Other Information
- You will be accompanied by our qualified guides. We all have first-aid, bush-craft and GPS certificates, as well as additional qualifications for the outdoors. All our high-quality fishing gear will be provided for you.
- Pick-up from Auckland accommodation and from there we will travel to one of our secret fishing spots in Auckland, the exact location depending on the day's wind conditions. We will pick you up from your accommodation in the Auckland city area, or meet you anywhere in the Auckland region.
We will drop you off again at the end of the day after a fantastic Tour around Auckland and a Kite Fishing Adventure all in one!
Full Day Tour includes: Free pick-up from Auckland central, transport to and from our fishing spots, all equipment, full catered lunch (!), snacks, hot and cold drinks!
